This is where we are in our day, lunch in bed. Sometimes I struggle with the optics of it all. Currently, my home is a complete mess with stuff everywhere. Dishes in the sink, building blocks, and books scattered across the floor. I did manage to get the bathroom cleaned for us to dirty back up by the end of the night. For right now that clean bathroom brings me a piece of sanity. That is all I can ask for.
I wish I could make it to the kitchen and sit at the table so we can have a proper meal. Right now, I’m glad to have the energy to stay awake for my second shift. One baby wakes up after the other is finally put down to sleep for the night. Two babies who have two completely different needs has not been a stroll in the park.
Each day I’m trying to find ways to make this mom life a little easier for me. So here I am handing my 1-year-old some soft veggies and fruit in a blueberry container I picked up from Aldi’s. She can feed herself from it while I change the diaper of my newborn. Perfect! Will half of the food end up in her bed or on herself? Maybe so but that is a chance I am willing to take. We can deal with the mess later. As long as both of my babies have full bellies and a clean diaper, I may be able to squeeze in a lunch break for myself. Who knows! Possibly even a 5-minute nap! Yeah, I know I’m being a bit over zealous.
I am feeling super accomplished right now. Are there any other mamas out here life-hacking the motherhood “system”?
